Nearly as old as time itself, the classic argument about whether it’s better to be in a relationship or not is still widely discussed today. Just as with most things in life, there are positives and negatives to being in a relationship, but if you’re with the right person, the positives highly outweigh the negatives.

There are countless reasons to enjoy being in a relationship, read on to discover three perks from having a significant other.

Partner in Crime

One of the best parts about being in a relationship is that you always have a partner in crime (PIC.) Whether you’re running to the store really quick or want to ride bikes in the park or want to get pizza late at night and watch a movie, you’ve got your PIC to tag-a-long with you.

It’s great because having another person with you can sometimes calm you down, boost your confidence, or merely make you not feel as guilty for eating too much or drinking too much, or being too lazy.

You also have constant reassurance about who you are as a person, knowing that there is someone who loves you and will be there for you at the end of the day. That right there is the best part about a PIC, just knowing someone will support you and have your back, or merely be there to cuddle with before bed.

Date Nights

Date nights are easily my favorite reason for being in a relationship. Not only are date nights great because you get to treat, or be treated by, your significant other to a night out with great food, great conversation, and great sex later on, but you can use them for excuses to miss out on things!

Say your friend is throwing a party for his cat. It’s usually a pretty fun time, but this cat sucks and scratches you all the time. All you gotta do is say, “Oh I’m sorry, we can’t make it, we’ve had a date night planned.” Bam! Just like that, you’re out of a dreadful party and now have an excuse to hide out with your partner or actually go on a date night.

The best part about date nights though is that there are no guidelines. A date night can be a wonderful night out, consisting of a fancy restaurant with nice wine and delicious food, followed by a stroll downtown before getting ice cream; or it can consist of a large pizza delivered to your door from Dominos, a cheap bottle of wine and binge-watching Netflix.

I’ve personally taken part in both styles of date night, numerous times, and both my partner and I loved every second of them. Relationships are great because any night spent together, where you continue to lovingly grow closer than you thought possible, can be considered a date night.

Consistent Sex

Ah, the pleasure in knowing exactly where you’re next sex is coming from and being able to make it happen whenever you please. Easily the most obvious perk with dating, consistent sex is glorious.

Gone are the days of dressing your best every day to class in order to spark interest in people or practicing your best pickup lines before heading to the bars. You become a more productive and stress-free person when you’re not constantly building up a giant urge inside of you that needs to get out one way or the other.

I mean, it’s sex, all the time, with someone you deeply care out. Sounds pretty awesome to me.
